Pamela Yamamoto Ireland is director of administration for the USC American Language Institute and USC International Academy. She provides strategic and operational oversight of financial operations, faculty administration, student services, compliance, and facilities for these two English language programs, which serve USC’s international and multilingual student communities.

Since joining USC in 2003, Yamamoto Ireland has advanced through teaching and administrative leadership roles. She has guided both units through complex organizational changes, financial restructuring, and leadership transitions. Earlier in her USC career, she taught writing, oral communication, grammar, and business English. She also administered an English-language literacy grant program and secured funding for three consecutive years. Before joining USC, she taught English to the first-year students at Soka University in Hachioji, Japan, and designed and administered self-access learning centers serving approximately 2,000 students each semester. She also previously worked in private client management at an investment management firm in New York City and held Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.

Yamamoto Ireland earned a doctorate in organizational change and leadership from the University of Southern California. She also holds a master’s degree in second and foreign language education, with a concentration in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) from Soka University of America, and a bachelor’s degree in communication from Rutgers University. A native of Queens, New York, she is fluent in Japanese and brings an interdisciplinary perspective spanning higher education administration, language education, organizational leadership, and financial operations.
